Hazel Crest company settles software piracy claim

Hazel Crest's Mi-Jack Products Inc., an equipment provider for the railroad and port industry, has agreed to pay the Business Software Association $110,000 to settle claims that it had unlicensed Microsoft and Symantec software programs on its computers.
Mi-Jack was one of seven Chicago-area companies that agreed Thursday to pay a combined $580,000 to settle claims brought by the software alliance. In addition, the companies agreed to delete any unlicensed copies, purchase replacement software and strengthen their software management practices.
Other companies that settled include: Claire-Sprayway Inc. of Addison; DeStefano & Partners Ltd. of Chicago; Great Lakes Plumbing and Heating Co. of Chicago; LR Development Co. LLC of Chicago; OTTO Engineering of Carpentersville and Weaver Boos & Gordon of Chicago. |
